BEFORE THE REMOVAL

  • Contact GIL STAUFFER as soon as possible and we will make a free visit to your home in order to assess all aspects of your move to make a correct quotation.
  • Provide our staff with your contact details: loading and unloading addresses, active phone numbers, and other relevant information that you will be asked for.
  • It is highly recommended to also contract full coverage insurance to avoid unnecessary risks. In particular, if the removal includes works of art, antiques or objects that you consider of special value. To this end, you will be given a document that will facilitate the work of valuing your furniture and personal effects and that will be essential as the basis of your insurance policy (Insurance Value Document).
  • Predict what to do with useless items or those which are not going to travel with the move.
  • It is preferable that pets are also in another place on the date of the moving.
  • The day before the removal, try to empty the contents of appliances: refrigerator, freezer, fryer, humidifiers or any other devices containing liquids or fluids that can spill.
  • Specify if there is any restriction to traffic in the loading or unloading address because it is a narrow street, pedestrian, need for parking permit, building with elevator availability or not, etc.
  • Sign your move contract as soon as possible in order to reserve service dates. This prevents unwanted overbookings.
  • Keep in mind that insurance companies are not responsible for plants.
  • If there are children in the family, plan a different activity for them on the day of the move.
  • Also note that the following items should not be transported with the move: perishable goods, pets, flammable, firearms, jewelry, stamps, cash or securities.
  • Put in a separate box or place, everything to use the next day (clothes, shoes, personal documents, money, jewelry, etc.). So the employees will not include it among moving boxes.

DURING THE MOVE

  • Carry with you your personal documents, as well as jewelry and money.
  • Try to be present at both the loading and unloading addresses to give the appropriate indications to our employees on the place where they will have to locate every item, more ovre if they are fragile, valuables, etc.
  • During packing all your belongings will be packed with manila paper, bubble paper, boxes of various sizes and boxes depending on the type of article in question. Occasionally, custom wood packaging will be used for parts that require it. In addition, each package will be marked to identified it at the destination address to place it in the correct location.
  • In certain cases, a furniture crane will be used to handle the furniture in the respective loading and unloading addresses. Especially if there is no elevator.
  • Once the unpacking has been completed, the employees will remove the packaging material used, but if there are boxes full at the customer’s request, the customer can call once he has placed all his belongings in the new address and then we will collect all the surplus material .
  • Finally, read the documents that the employees will present to you and sign it while still reflecting any anomaly that you detect.

AFTER THE MOVE

  • Communicate the change of address to relatives, friends, neighbors and acquaintances, institutions, companies, associations, sports clubs, etc.
  • Renew your census data.
  • Renew your domestic supply contracts such as gas, electricity, water, phones, Internet, television, etc.
  • Renew your bank accounts.
  • Update health insurance, home insurance, vehicles insurance, etc.
  • Renew subscriptions to newspapers and magazines.
  • Manage the redirection of the post mail to the new address.
  • Order new business cards.
