10 tips to make your move a stress-free success

Moving can be one of life's most exciting experiences... but also one of the most stressful if you don't plan correctly. Whether you're moving house, city or even country, good organisation is key to keeping things running smoothly.

At Gil Stauffer, we have been helping families and companies move their lives and belongings with peace of mind for over 100 years. That's why we've put together 10 practical tips to make your move a success from start to finish.

1. Plan ahead

Ideally, start preparing for the move at least one month before. This will give you time to organise your belongings, contact the removal company and deal with unforeseen events without rushing.
Make a calendar with key dates: packing, key collection, connection of supplies, moving, cleaning, etc.

🗓️ The earlier you start, the easier it will be to avoid last-minute stress.

2. Clean up before packing

A move is the perfect time to getting rid of what you no longer use. Donate, sell or recycle what you don't need and avoid paying to move things that will end up in storage without use.
Every box you don't fill is time and money you save.

3. Sort and label your boxes

Pack by room and use visible labels with the contents: "Kitchen - dishes", "Bedroom - bed linen", etc.
If you want to go a step further, number the boxes and carry a small inventory on your mobile phone.
📦 En Gil Stauffer We provide professional packaging materials and labels to facilitate the process.

4. Protect delicate objects well

Use bubble wrap, blankets or cardboard to protect fragile items.
Glasses and cups should be packed in specific boxes, while pictures, televisions or mirrors should be packed separately.
Good packaging is the difference between a smooth move and an upset.

5. Don't forget important documents

Passports, contracts, deeds, medical or school documents should travel with you, not in the truck.
Keep them in a separate folder or backpack and always have them at hand during the move.

6. Inform all services

Before the transfer, make sure that notify change of address to banks, utilities, insurance, schools or any other service you use.
This way, you will avoid losing important correspondence or running out of electricity or internet when you arrive at your new home.

7. Hire a reputable moving company

Although moving on your own may seem economical, the effort, time and risk of damage often do not pay off.
At Gil Stauffer we offer removal services national and internationalwith specialised personnel, our own vehicles and transport insurance.
Our experience since 1905 is the best guarantee of peace of mind.

8. Consider using a furniture repository

If there is a waiting time between leaving one home and moving into another, or you simply need more space, a service of storage is a safe and flexible solution.
Our air-conditioned and guarded warehouses keep your belongings in perfect condition for as long as you need them.

9. Prepare an "early days box".

It includes essential items for the first few days: towels, basic cooking utensils, clothes, chargers, medicines, etc.
That way you don't have to open all the boxes looking for the essentials as soon as you arrive.

10. Relax: your move is in good hands.

A move is much more than moving objects: it is moving memories, illusions and new beginnings.
Leave the logistical aspects in the hands of professionals and enjoy the change with peace of mind.
At Gil Stauffer we take care of everything: packing, transport, assembly and storage, with a close and experienced team.
